Thrift store transformation

I went thrifting again and found this awesome long sleeved shirt for a $1.50. ( awesome buy!) but it was just too plain for me so I decided to jazz it up.

First thing I did was cut the sleeves off to make it weather appropriate..

Next I used some old t-shirts I had lying around the house and cut narrow strips out of the shirt

I then went to my sewing machine and used a basic long running stitch down the center of the strip and created a ruffle ( i decided not to use the white in the shirt)

Next I pinned the ruffles to the shirt in a pattern I liked and overstitched the previous stitching and whala! a brand new shirt!

How to make a Ruffle Pillow from an over-sized T shirt

Hey guys... its been a while.. you missed me? Well I have been crafting and today i am going to show you how to make a pillow from a T shirt. ( sorry about the low quality pictures... my camera is in the shop so I have been using my cellphone as my primary camera)

For this project you will need
1. an over-sized t- shirt of your choice
2. A rotary cutter or scissors
3.Sewing Machine or needle and thread
4. Pins to hold fabric
5. Stuffing to put inside your pillow

Lets get started....
Step 1: Lay your t shirt out on a flat surface i brought this for 1 dollar at the thrift store.

Step 2: Using your rotary cutter or scissors cut a 14x14 inch square from your t-shirt

Step 3: using the rest of your t shirt cut about 12- to 15 strips of fabric about 24 inches long and 1 1/2 inches wide to make your ruffles.. ( sorry i forgot to take a picture of this step)

Step 4: Sew a gathering stitch down the ruffle either with your sewing machine or by hand leaving enough thread to be pulled later.

Step 5: Pull the bobbin thread to create your ruffle and pin ruffle down on pillow front. repeat steps 4 and 5 for each ruffle once finished pinning ruffles sew onto pillow front using the same gathering stitch as your guide. be sure to back stitch.

Step 6: Pin pillow front and pillow back facing each other and sew around the edges leaving a 5 inch gap on one side.. ( you will close this later)

Step 7: Turn pillow right side out and stuff with filler

Step 8: close the 5 inch gap that you left earlier and whala! you now have your very own ruffle pillow!

sorry for the lack of pictures... its hard to create and remember to take pictures at the same time.. hope you enjoyed this post... subscribe and comment and tell your friends :)
